Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Vallena to Prestige Studio for a portrait session that was quite different from our usual style. This shoot allowed us to experiment with creative lighting techniques — focusing on high contrast, deep shadows, and moody tones that brought out a dramatic yet elegant vibe in every shot.

Most of our portrait sessions often lean towards natural or soft studio lighting, which is perfect for timeless, clean portraits. However, every now and then, it’s refreshing to step out of the norm and explore a more artistic approach. Vallena’s session was exactly that — a chance to play with light and shadow to craft something bold and unique.

This session was made even more special because Vallena was accompanied by her sister, Vivien, who has been to our studio not once, not twice, but three times! It’s always heartwarming when clients come back and trust us again, this time bringing along family to share the experience.

The shoot took place at our studio located at 4th Mile, Kuching, where we set up a minimalist yet controlled lighting setup to achieve this moody aesthetic. The result? Portraits that feel cinematic, intimate, and full of character.
